How to Become a Yacht Crew Member
Understand Roles
Research and Understand Roles
Stewardess (or Steward):
Providing great hospitality services to guests, while ensuring guest comfort and satisfaction. Strong interpersonal skills are needed, attention to detail and good organization.
Engineer:
Maintenance and repair of the yacht's mechanical and electrical systems, including engines, generators, HVAC systems, and other onboard equipment.
Deckhand:
Maintenance of the exterior of the yacht, including cleaning, painting, and general upkeep. Assisting with docking, anchoring, and water sports activities.
Gain Relevant Skills and Qualifications
- Basic Safety Training: Obtain certifications like STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers).
